FELTING CLASSES

We have regularly scheduled needle felting classes, plus special wet and nuno felting classes too. Call the shop to register for classes or for more information: 203-245-5921.

Monthly Needle Felting Club- Learn to Make Anything! With Deidre of Gryphon & Unicorn Studio.  Sunday, February 4, 2024 ( one spot left) or Sunday, March 10, 2024. 1:00-3:30 PM.  $50.00 (includes fiber and felting pad & needles).  $10.00 deposit holds your space.  Beginners and older children welcome!  Call 203-245-5921 to register. * Class cost is $35.00 if you have your own pad and needles*

Come learn to make a fun and colorful fairy, or anything you’d like!! Deidre will lead you through the steps to make one of these fabulous creatures using only wool and barbed needles.  You will leave with a colorful creation and the knowledge to make more.

Create a wool stocking to treasure using a combination of wet felting over a resist and needle felting techniques. Using a mixture of wools, pre-felt wool and exotic fibers, you will make a beautiful heirloom. Be prepared to do some physical rolling and hand manipulation of the fiber to finish this charming winter scene that wraps around the back. Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting wet!

Bring a lunch- fridge and microwave available- or order from local restaurants.

Join us for a memorable day of wet felting and learning how to fashion your own pair of fingerless wrist warmers!  You will learn how to design your mitts over a resist, layering wool and embellishments, then wet felting and shaping.  You will learn to wet felt cool color blends and a finished edge to create a one of a kind art garment to wear or gift.  The skills learned can be applied to any wet felting project, and we will discuss general design.  

This workshop does require working with soap and water and some vigorous rolling, squeezing and manipulating the wool.  Please dress accordingly with clothes you do not mind getting wet!

Learn to make beautiful felted flowers for an everlasting bouquet!  Perfect for the total beginner or a felter with some experience.  You wlll make 3-5 blooms using merino wool, silk, and bamboo fibers.  You will learn to add felt or paper leaves and a wire stem.

Create this two-dimensional wet-felted Sarafina Fiber Arts design utilizing a 22” x 22” wool base, a myriad of fabulous merino and silk fibers, hand-dyed silk hankies & locks. You will be provided with the pattern so no drawing skills necessary in this beginner Friendly workshop.  No previous wet-felting experience necessary. 

Nuno Felted Garden Pouch.   With Lori Neumann (www.menageriebylori.com) Saturday, May 7, 2022.  9 AM- 5 PM.  $140.00.  $50.00 deposit holds your space.  Call 203-245-5921 to register.  Price includes most materials.  Additional materials also available for purchase.  Lunch break:  bring your own (fridge and microwave available, plus snacks and tea) or order from local restaurants.  Please bring 2-3 towels to class. 

Join Lori as she shows you how to create a fun bag incorporating lace, silk, pre-felts and yarns.  The bag will be about 8-10 inches in size, and you will learn how to nuno felt over a resist, adding different elements to the piece, and attaching a cord and finishing stitches. 

You will learn the fundamentals of fiber layout, choosing materials for your project, and will learn skills that will be applicable to future felting projects. 

When registering, please chose a color scheme for your bag:  1. Green 2. Violet 3. Blue 4. Earth Tones

This is a wet-felting class, AND VERY PHYSICAL, so come prepared with work/play shoes and clothes.

Join Lori as she shows you how to create a wearable piece of art from wool and silk and funky bits!  Nuno felting is a technique that combines wool fibers with an open weave fabric to create wearable pieces with beautiful drape and textural interest.

In this class, we will learn about the properties of wool and how it becomes felt, combining fine merino with silk fabrics to create a thin, wearable piece that also has structural integrity. You will use soap, water, and agitation to create your fabric.  You will learn the fundamentals of fiber layout, choosing materials for your project, and will learn skills that will be applicable to future felting projects. 

When registering, please chose a color scheme for your cowl:  1.Earth- neutrals/champagne/golds; 2. Forest-browns/golds/greens, 3. Sky/water- blues/violets/aqua, 4. Sun- yellow/oranges;  5. Summer Garden- pinks/purples; 6. Fire -reds, bright oranges/yellows; 7. Nightowl- black/grey/white/neutrals 

This is a wet-felting class, AND VERY PHYSICAL, so come prepared with work/play shoes and clothes and an old towel or two.
